Steering
Social Chair:
Marisol Zepeda
Hello ladies, my name is Marisol Zepeda and I am from a small town named Guadalupe, CA. I am currently a second year at San Francisco State and majoring in Criminal Justice. I chose this major because there has been a couple of my family members who have gone through incarceration due to struggles that they have faced. Seeing my family members go through this inspired me to become a parole officer. I first heard of Hermanas Unidas my first year at state which I personally thought was great since I was trying to settle down in a whole new environment. HaU gave me the opportunity to find a family away from home as I found a lot of girls who were going or went through the same situation as me. I became social chair because I like the idea of getting the organization out there especially because it is our first year and at the moment it is not really known.

Advicing:
Adriana Perez
Hello, my name is Adriana Perez, but everyone calls me DiDi. I am from Los Angeles, CA. My major is Kinesiology and I am currently a 4th year student. I always grew up around sports and had a bunch of guy friends so with that I took an interest in working with sports and medicine. I want to hopefully one day become a Pediatric Physical Therapist, and create my own Sports League at a park in a low-income community. I first heard of Hermanas Unidas, my junior year at State, and I was close to some of the girls and felt really comfortable with them, and once i came around the meetings and the rest of the girls, in a way i felt apart of something great. A new environment, a new group of people, and hearing girls out on a different level. That sisterhood, was slowly embedding itself within me. The need to breakaway from stereotypes, of "girls cant be trusted" amongst other girls, was one of the reasons why i did want to be apart of the organization. To create a new view in society or at least our SFSU community. I chose to become Advising Chair, solely because i feel i can connect with different people and I would like to be apart of creating that safe place for women where they can feel open and accepted. Growing up as women, we have all had our fair share of struggles & no ones surpasses the other because at the end of the day that experience was their own. I find that this organization helps us as women grow into becoming better in different levels of our lives, as students and as women; socially, academically and using what we learn to give back to our communities.
Hello ladies, my name is Jessica Manriquez and I am the current Historian for Hermanas Unidas. I am from Santa Maria which is within the Santa Barbara County. It is my second year at San Francisco State and also in Hermanas Unidas. I decided to join HaU because coming from Southern California I was very unfamiliar of the city and its people. HaU was good way for me to not only create new friendships, but also stay on track with my academics. I decided to join steering in order to help with Hermanas Unidas second year of establishment at SF state. My steering position consists of taking photos of the organization such as meeting, socials, community service and academic hours. I am really looking forward to this year with my Hermanas and upcoming plans we have. H-a-U-Know!
Fundraising Chair
&
Treasurer:
Ana Calderon
Hello my name is Ana Calderon and I am the Fundraising chair and treasurer for Hermanas Unidas. I am a second year with a psychology major. I am a very outgoing, bubbly girl from Salinas, CA. I love spending time with my family and friends, going shopping, watching baseball, playing soccer, listening to music and always down for a good time. After being in Hermanas Unidas for only one semester I realized that I wanted a bigger role in the organization since I created such a huge bond with my hermanas. I am so excited to be the fundraising chair and treasurer since I love planning events and finding ways to financially help the organization in fun ways we all enjoy and grow a bigger hermandad between us.
Raza Liaison:
Jasmine Soria
Hey ! My name is Jasmine Soria and I'm a Chicana, born and raised in Northern Cali. I'm from a small city not to far from SF it's called Richmond. I am very family oriented and I do love creating really close relationships with people that's a big reason why I joined Hermanas. Being apart of something bigger than me is very rewarding because I know that there is so much more out there and Hermanas is able to present me with these great opportunities like community service, academic hours and not only collegial networking but just creating a welcoming environment for girls that don't feel like they have someone to turn to. I've only started this year in Hermanas and I can already say that I feel like I belong and I always have a group of wonderful girls to turn to whenever I need help or something as simple as advice and that's exactly what I hope to communicate with the other girls as well. I am the Raza Liaison for the year of 2013-2014 for HaU and my goal is to help my hermanas connect more with our latino community and present them with more resources and opportunities so that they can benefit from it in the future. This all keeping in mind La poder de la Mujer. H a U - Know !
Inner Social Chair:
Katherine Pool
Hello Ladies! My name is Katherine Pool and I’m this year Inner Social Chair. I am a second year Psychology major originally from Los Angeles. I chose to come to San Francisco and attend SFSU because I fell in love with the city and the school (Go Gators!). San Francisco has a different vibe to it than L.A which I love. I consider SF my new home and don’t regret my decision in coming here. Hermanas Unidas since the beginning has been very welcoming. Every member in Hermanas is there to offer a helping hand when needed. Since their first info night I felt like this organization is where I belong, that why I continue to be part of HaU.
As Inner Social chair I will be in charge of creating social event within Hermanas Unidas. My goal for this year is to create a strong bond among each other. I want to make Hermanas become a second family to all you ladies. A place that you can go to at anytime and share your stories with any of your fellow Hermanas. Welcome to Hermanas Unidas de SFSU!
